Abstract
This study uses discrete element method (DEM) simulations to explore how soil type, moisture level, and working speed affect the forces on a seedling planter’s covering paddles. Even though all measured loads stayed within the planter’s design limits, wetter soils and higher speeds noticeably increased paddle loads. These insights highlight the importance of moisture and working speed to achieve consistent seedling placement and smooth operation. By following the recommended operating parameters, the machine guarantees precise seedling placement while reducing wear on equipment, ultimately improving both planting performance and machine longevity
