Abstract
Abstract: Mechanized vegetable transplanting represents an effective approach to enhance planting efficiency, reduce labor intensity, and ensure transplanting quality. The 2ZB-2B semi-automatic vegetable transplanter, developed by Ding Duo Co., is widely utilized in China; however, it relies on manual seedling feeding, resulting in low operational efficiency and high labor demand. To address these limitations, this study designed a ring-type automatic picking and planting device for the 2ZB-2B transplanter. A row of picking claws mounted on a ring guide enables a cyclic operation mode, accomplishing whole-row gripping and ring-distributed planting of plug seedlings. Through single-factor and orthogonal experiment optimization, the optimal working parameters were determined as follows: plug substrate moisture content of 47%, seedling conveying speed of 0.56 m/s, and seedling age of 39 days. Under these conditions, the picking-planting success rate reached 92.29%. Performance tests conducted with the optimized parameters yielded a picking-planting success rate of 91.2%, and field transplanting tests achieved a success rate of 90.28%, meeting operational requirements. This research provides a foundation for the development of fully automatic transplanters.
