Abstract
Agricultural tractors are repairable mechanical systems whose service records can provide insight into how failure mechanisms evolve over their operating life. This study analysed 200 failure cases recorded for 75 Zetor tractors. Failure causes were classified into six mechanism categories and compared across four engine operating-hour classes. The relationship between operating-hour class and failure mechanism was evaluated using contingency tables, chi-square tests, Cramer’s V, odds ratios, and correspondence analysis. Sealing-related failures predominated in the dataset, whereas material/manufacturing and electrical causes were more prevalent during the early stages of operation, and wear-, friction-, and fatigue-related mechanisms became more prominent at higher operating hours. The findings provide a basis for service planning and the assessment of tractor reliability.
